01

A safety message that needed to land

The refinery needed an induction that could hold attention, make risk tangible and retain the seriousness of an industrial operating environment. The existing format took approximately three hours and relied heavily on passive presentation.

02

Designing for a room, not a headset

The response centred on a life-size shared CAVE rather than an individual experience. Up to 25 people could take part together, see the same refinery context and discuss the consequences of decisions as a group.

03

Connecting the client need to delivery

Through Holosphere, Spencer contributed client-facing technical and commercial leadership across concept, discovery, design, development and installation, keeping the learning objective connected to the physical and technical solution.

04

Interaction with a purpose

Handheld interaction, real-time risk decisions and instructor-led discussion turned the induction into an active exercise. The technology supported the conversation rather than becoming the subject of it.

05

A measurable change in the format

The delivered facility reduced the induction from approximately three hours to 45 minutes. A recorded knowledge-retention result of 92% provides a clear indicator of the format’s effectiveness.

Outcome

The training format reduced from approximately three hours to 45 minutes, with a recorded 92% knowledge-retention result.
